Description
Learn the Piano – Module 2 continues the beginner’s journey by introducing the fundamental principles of music theory that help explain how melodies and musical compositions are constructed. Instead of simply reading individual notes, students begin to recognize the relationships between sounds and understand the musical structures behind what they play.
The module explores major and minor modes, tonic, tonality, stable and unstable tones, intervals, whole steps, half steps, and the construction of major scales. These concepts provide an important theoretical foundation for more confident and independent piano study.
Students also discover how major and minor modes influence the character and emotional quality of music. By understanding why melodies can sound bright, energetic, calm, or expressive, music gradually becomes more than a collection of notes—it becomes a meaningful musical language.
Practical lessons introduce the first major scale, demonstrate the structure of whole steps and half steps, and develop interval recognition. Carefully structured exercises strengthen finger coordination, rhythmic precision, musical hearing, and the ability to play with both hands. Each theoretical concept is reinforced through practical work at the piano, allowing musical understanding and keyboard technique to develop together.
The learning system combines the workbook with online video lessons, audio recordings, and practical assignments for independent study. By the end of Module 2, students will understand the principles of major and minor tonality, recognize intervals and tonal relationships, perform their first scales with both hands, and approach new music with a deeper understanding of its structure.
