Description
Beginner Piano Lessons – Module 5 takes students to the next stage of piano study, where playing the correct notes becomes only part of the musical experience. The main goal of this module is to develop expressive performance and teach students how to transform a written score into a convincing musical interpretation.
The centerpiece of the module is the original composition “Sunrise and Sunset.” Students work through the piece step by step, analyzing its structure, understanding its musical storyline, and learning how to shape individual phrases with confidence and expression.
An important theoretical topic is the key of F Major, including its scale, key signature, and practical application at the piano. Students are also introduced to modulation and learn how movement from one key to another can create contrast, emotional development, and changes of musical character. Major and minor tonalities are explored as expressive tools rather than simply theoretical concepts.
Practical lessons develop finger repetition, smooth hand coordination, expressive phrasing, technical fluency, and greater dynamic control. Theory and practice remain closely connected throughout the module, with progressive exercises, audio recordings, video demonstrations, and creative assignments helping students apply each new concept directly to their piano playing.
By the end of Module 5, students will be able to perform “Sunrise and Sunset” with greater confidence, understand the structure of F Major, recognize modulation, and make more thoughtful artistic decisions while playing. The module develops both technical control and personal musical interpretation, preparing students for the concluding stage of the course.
