Description
Vocal Training – Module 4 introduces a new stage of vocal development by combining interval training, microphone technique, rhythmic precision, and practical performance skills. The module helps singers strengthen vocal confidence while developing the ability to practise and perform more independently.
An important part of the module is learning how to work with a microphone at home. Students discover how to prepare a suitable recording environment, position the microphone correctly, warm up before recording, synchronize singing with an accompaniment track, and objectively evaluate their own performances. Regular recording also helps singers become familiar with the natural sound of their voice and use self-evaluation as a practical learning tool.
The central musical focus is the Perfect Fourth. Students learn to hear, recognize, and accurately sing ascending and descending fourths, perform smooth interval leaps, connect intermediate tones, and maintain stable intonation. Special attention is given to breath preparation, a relaxed larynx, and an even, resonant vocal tone.
The module contains eight progressively structured vocal warm-ups using different vowels, consonants, melodic patterns, and articulation exercises. They develop interval accuracy, breath management, resonance, legato, smooth voice transitions, rhythmic stability, diction, dynamic control, expressive phrasing, and vocal range. Students are also introduced to dotted rhythm, learning to coordinate rhythm with breathing, articulation, and melodic movement.
Each vocal exercise progresses through three practical stages: singing with the teacher, performing with bass accompaniment, and finally singing with full piano accompaniment in different keys through systematic transposition. This approach develops harmonic hearing, keyboard coordination, musical independence, and confidence in practical performance situations.
The module concludes with a glossary of essential musical and vocal concepts and four theoretical and practical assessments. By completing Module 4, students develop more accurate Perfect Fourth intervals, stronger rhythmic precision, improved microphone skills, better breath coordination, clearer articulation, and greater independence when performing with bass, piano, and recorded backing tracks.
